1. The short version

Populate.ai is built privacy-first. Your documents are processed only to extract your data and are never stored on our servers or retained after processing. Extraction is performed via a secure AI processing service; we keep no copy of your files, and we do not require an account.

2. How your documents are handled

Files you drop, photograph, or dictate are sent securely to our AI processing service only for the duration needed to extract your data, and are not retained afterwards. The resulting structured data is held in your browser's local storage so you can revisit it on the same device. Clearing your browser storage removes it permanently — we cannot recover it for you.

3. What is sent to AI providers

To extract, clean, spell-check, and translate the content of a document, the extracted text and image data are sent to our AI gateway and the underlying model providers. These calls are used only to fulfil your request and are not used to build a profile of you.

4. Anonymous usage telemetry

We record a single anonymous "visit" event per browser session and a "doc" event when a document finishes processing. These events include a random visitor ID generated on your device and the two-letter country code provided by our edge network. No file contents, filenames, IP addresses, or personally identifying information are stored.

5. Cookies

Populate.ai does not use advertising cookies. We use your browser's local storage to remember your documents and a random visitor ID for the counters shown on the landing page.

6. Your rights

Because we do not collect personal data, there is nothing to export or delete on our side. You can wipe everything Populate.ai knows about you by clearing your browser's site data for this domain.
